Ryan
Burke-Hockey Star
OilCan Drive
“When
I initially came up with the concept of OilCan Drive the Colorado
Avalanche were on their way to winning their second Stanley Cup. So,
of course, I had to make a member of the group an ex-Avalanche player.
The name
Ryan Burke was a tribute to Ray Borque, ex-Boston Bruin player who
had come to Colorado to chase down that elusive Stanley Cup. When
the Avs finally won the cup, the tradition is for the captain of the
team, Joe Sakic, to hoist the cup first. But, like a true gentleman,
he turned, handed the cup to Ray, and let Mr. Borque hoist that trophy
sky high.
And,
who was there standing next to his dad in his moment of triumph? His
son, Ryan Borque.”
